Carving the Floors

Classroom 2: Advanced Printmaking Students from Bowdoin College -- Jenna Breiter, Maggie Brenner, Katie Chew, Laurel Clark, Audrey Hatch, Sam Howe, Nathan Johnson, Norah Maki, Colin Matthews, Caroline Sholl, Becca Spiro, and Carlos West

The Old Brunswick High School (in use from 1937-1995), in Brunswick, Maine, will be demolished in May of 2009. In advance of its demolition, Advanced Printmaking students from Bowdoin College, together with Anna Helper and Andrea Sulzer, carved two classroom floors in the high school as gigantic woodcuts. Each floor was printed by hand in sections and then drymounted together to create the final 20x30 foot images.

Gyre - at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art

This installation was on view at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art from January 11th until March 21st. Constructed from salvaged sheet plastic and tarps, the form stretched 45 feet through the Loft Gallery space from peak to peak of the gabled roof.

WOODCUTS - a solo exhibition at ICON Contemporary Art

This exhibition features 29 woodcuts from the past two years. Pictured here is a selection from my 'Wolfecut' series printed at Wolfe Editions In Portland, Maine. Each image is 18 x 22" and printed in editions of 8.

The opening reception is Saturday, November 15th from 4-6.

Since mid-July I have been constructing a sculptural installation at a new residency/exhibition space in Bellevue, Washington. The sculpture is built from stainless and aluminum rod connecting to disks cut from black PVC. Eventually the piece will hang from the 25 foot ceiling. Here are a few images showing the early stages of the project:

This is one of a new series of woodcuts I am printing at Wolfe Editions in Portland, Maine.

Still Pulling

Six from this series will be included in the exhibition Still Pulling: Traditional Printmaking in the Digital Age. Each print measures 18x20 inches.

PROJECTION ROOMS - SPACE Gallery December 2006

The following images detail three of 7 dioramas created for an installation at SPACE gallery in Portland, Maine. Each diorama depicts a monumental sculptural installation capturing the movement and forms of flocking, swarming, or the floating geometry of fireworks. Located in the front window of SPACE, these miniature interiors are lit from behind and can be viewed 24 hours a day.
